Historic landmark in Himeji, Japan
Himeji Castle
Himeji Castle is Japan's most celebrated surviving feudal castle, renowned for its brilliant white plaster walls, elegant keep, layered defensive design and extensive grounds. Located about 15 to 20 minutes on foot from Himeji Station, it is a rewarding day trip from Osaka or Kyoto, although steep stairways, queues and exposed courtyards make an early start worthwhile.
